I know what it's like.
I’ve said it countless times, “Working with actors is my favorite part of the job.” Shaping performance, finding depth and nuance, bringing the words off of the page…it’s what I live for and what has earned me the reputation of an “actor’s director”.
On set, directors are spread thin. We are responsible for every frame of the picture, every second of the schedule, and every word on the page. More often than not, directors don’t focus the nuances of the actor’s performance.
Not me.
I am proud of the commitment I make to actors and their performances. I never take my eye off it and never let them feel abandoned in the process. I am their collaborator through and through…and it shows up on screen. I get compliments all the time on the performances in my episodes and I believe it is what gets me hired back again and again.
Not only do I care about actors on-screen. I care about their plight to achieve success. I am friends with countless actors…some working and MANY that deserve to be but haven’t made their breakthrough yet. It can feel like an impossible struggle and I respect it tremendously. It takes so much courage, vulnerability and determination to keep marching forward in this brutal and heartbreaking industry.
That’s why I put together these courses. Genuinely, I want to help actors get closer to their goals and I want to build relationships with the talented actors that have dedicated themselves to their craft. I want to connect my knowledge and experience with their goals and talents. I’ve been a working television director for eleven years and have always dreamed of coaching and teaching actors in between projects. I am grateful to finally turn that into a reality. I look forward to working with the actors who have pushed through adversity, committed to their craft, and are ready to get down to work.
